It is based on the book series Astroblast by author and illustrator Bob Kolar. It began airing on NBC Kids, the Saturday morning programming block on NBC, on October 4, 2014. The show is co-produced by Scholastic Media, Soup2Nuts and debuted on Sprout on July 12, 2014. The show continued to air in reruns on Sprout. The show premiered on Sprout in 2014, but ended in 2016 due to Soup2Nuts closing down. It is about six animals, Comet, Halley, Sputnik, Radar, Jet, and Sal, who make smoothies in a space station. It was created by Sprout, Scholastic, and Soup2Nuts, and based on a book by Turbo Dogs author Bob Kolar. But when it was originally airing, episodes were available on Youtube TV, Sprout Now, Google Play and might have been on Hulu at one point, but as of May 20th, 2021 they are no longer available on any of these platforms. Astroblast is an American animated series created by Bob Kolar. Astroblast is one of Sprout's original series. While there is no Home Media Release, or Digital Release on a major streaming platform, as of May 20th, 2021 all of the episodes are available to watch online. In October 2013, it was announced that Sprout and Scholastic were teaming up to create another original series for the network called Astroblast! and was slated for a release in Summer 2014, And this was the final show that Soup2Nuts created before going out of business later in 2015. Astroblast! is about a group of 6 Animal Friends "Comet, Halley, Sputnik, Radar, Jet and Sal" that live in outer space at the Astroblast Space Station that houses a smoothie cafe called The Frosty Star in each episode, they learn the values of friendship and team leadership, and when something goes wrong they also learn that it’s okay to ask for help or forgiveness, along with clever storylines, relatable characters, humor and more.
