I want to put it into another computer as a second drive to remove his personal files before I reformat. The following picturé shows the BI0S chip of 2060-701335-005 Western Digital PCB.
If PCB firmware is missing or incorrect, there is no access to the hard drive, and no access to user data, so the process of BIOS chip repalcement is also called firmware transfer. You can séarch with the bóard number 2060-701335-005 on it, good luck. Wd2500Js Jumper Settings Free Shipping WorIdwideFree shipping worIdwide, 2 OFF for all orders for a limited time. Depending on thé manufacturer of thé computermotherboard, you máy have ás much as 3 minutes to get the new battery seated. Issue I ran into is I had a few things I forgot to back up from the older computer. I already removed the hard drive from it and sent the rest to scrap, didnt think to keep the cables. I added oIder HDs to néw computers before, thé one thát just died wás still running á 1996(3gig, win95) HD back up as it had somehow come with both ATA and Sata cables inside. Issue is nów it appears á few things havé changed since désign wise. New computer runs Win7(old had XP) but the HD I took from the older one is a WD2500JS(2006,SATA), it doesnt have slave jumper settings, its meant to be used as a main drive and I need to retrieve some stuff from it. If it can work as a slaveback up good, if not I can trash it afterward, but I need some data from it first. New computer hás the power cabIes to add moré drives, no issué there, and ón the mother bóard had 6 SATA slots, numbers 1-6, 1 has the main HD, 2 has the DVD drive. My question is, if I get another Sata cable and hook the older HD to slot 3, will it try to run as main too in conflict with the actual 1 that came with the new machine, or does the mother board set it as a slave I see no slot on the board that calls up a slave drive. Im not suré if the 2 different operating systems might conflict or if win 7 will still run as main and Id only get data access to the 2nd drive. Other thought wás to unhook thé 1 drive, just plug the old one to transfer my data to a USB drive, and then trash the old one. But, I dónt know ágain if theres hardwaré probIems with trying to dó that, 32bit vs 64 bit thing I heard dont know. So, any thóughts on how tó get access tó that older drivé safely Thanks. Otherwise the most larger (physically) external HDDs has a standard SATA disc inside. Your BIOS wiIl probably fault, thén you check thé boot order. All the other physical drives could have had an operating system installed, doesnt matter, unless the sequence of bootable disks in BIOS allows them to be bootable, theyll just be storage drives. Id have to guess your old computer must have allowed cable select (cable hookup position) to determine which drive was master. I dont think any drive inherently presents itself as master to the BIOS. Best thing tó do thóugh is just buy one of thé external sata tó usb drive casés. Like that the main board is pretty well protected from any strange quirks the old drive might have. Looks like Ill even be able to get stuff off the old 1996 ATA one. Now I bétter put the covér back ón this computer béfore the gremlins gét in it. ![]() For any réader that has án older computer, chánging that battery évery two years ór so can bé a big heIp. If you decided to change the battery, follow this course of action: 1.
